This thread is to teach everyone when paintball began, after doing a little research I made this.
Today, paintball fields can be found in the U.S.A., Canada, Mexico, Australia, England, Scotland, Africa, Russia, New Zealand, Brazil, Denmark, France, Holland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Venezuela, Philippines, Germany, Austria Ireland, Belgium, Greece, Israel, Korea, Thailand, Puerto Rico, and maybe more places.
The first idea of paintball came in 1970, "James Hale," made a patent that would make the first ever paintball gun. This paintball gun would then be used by farmers and ranchers to mark live stock and trees.
By 1981 in New Hampshire, the principal of paintball as a game and sport was thought up by Hayes Noel, a stockbroker, Charles Gaines, a writer, and Bob Gurnsey a sporting goods retailer.
On June 27th, 1981 The first game of paintball was played. It was capture the flag and there were 12 players using Nel Spot 007 pistols.
In 1982 The first outdoor playing field was opened in Rochester, N.Y by Caleb Strong, Charles Gaines marketed paintball as the National Survival Game (NSG) and PMI was founded to market and distribute paintball products.
1983 The first NSG National Championship was held with a $14,00 cash prize. Also the first ever outdoor paintball field opened in Toronto, Canada.
1984 Paintball started in Australia under the name of Skirmish Games, in November of that year the first indoor paintball field opened in Buffalo, N.Y by Caleb Strong.
In 1988 the IPPA (International Paintball Players Association) Was made to teach about paintball and the safety and to help grow paintball. By 1991 paintball begins to spread to Europe, playing in France, Denmark and other countries.
In 1992 the NPPL (National Professional Paintball League) was founded and the NPPL Pro-Am series started to grow around the United States.
By 1996 you can find tournaments, stores, fields, and paintball players almost anywhere.
