pump terminology:
sc: stock class, the feed tube is parallel to the body and tubes usually hold 8,10,12, and 15 balls (20 max and cannot be assisted into the breach ie must be rock and cock() there are laos custom sizes. The gun has a 12g changer on the back or hidden in the pump handle.
vsc: Vertical Stock Class: stock class but the 12 gram changer is vertical and in front of the grip frame rather than on the back.
rollout: Having paint too small or your barrel. There is no need for this EVER, it has been determined that under boring does not cause more barrel breaks and therefore you should always underbore.
wwa: white wolf airsmithing an website that sells many pump guns, gear, and accessories, some question how legit they are I have no opinion and wont go into it.
wevo: website that sells pump guns, gear, and accessories, usually the cheapest but has a very long turn around time.
at: auto trigger its when you hold the trigger down and keep pumping to fire more shots rather than pump, shoot, pump, shoot, it come stock on some guns and is an add on to others..
df: direct feed you use an hopper instead of an tube.
cci: maker of phantoms
ccm: makes many autococker pump accessories and pump guns.
sniper: the gun that the autococker is based off of. also cocker based pumps are sometimes referred to as this.
nelson based: means that the body is an nelson design of an single tube pump like the phantom, a/t is standard in all nelsons pumps, its just a by product of the design..
sheridan based: the body is an sheridan design of an stacked tube pump like the pgp, a/t is not standard.
That should be the basics of what is needed to understand most of the lingo.
Now you want to know what gun to get. Well if your just starting out or you have little money heres the list for you along with the tyoe of marker:
Traccer/Maverick (same gun) used only $40~ (nelson)
Hornet/Tagmaster (same gun) used only $40~ (nelson)
Tippmann SL68I and SL68II sued only $40-$60 (Tippmann)
Kingman Hammer used only 30-60 (similar to nelson)
You could always get a Brass Eagle plastic pump but those will most likely break/ explode.
For someone whos played before and know they love pump:
phantom (nelson)
buzzard (nelson)
illusion (a cocker base) (sheridan)
sniper 1 or 2 (or other cocker based pumps) (sheridan)
Phantoms are much more stock class orientated while snipers are more open class.
15 easy Tactics:
1. Don't get shot
2. Tit them first
3. Show the smallest target area you can
4. Move very fast and be sneaky
5. Be aggressive but not stupid
6. Always remember to cock the paintball gun after you fire so it's Instinct and never have to worry.
7. Always have extra 10 round tubes and 12grams
8. Don't be intimidated.
9. Most of all have fun
10. Believe me you will suck horribly at first but after a few days 11. Pf playing it will just start to click and you'll get really good.
12. Take some time to target practice and learn your gun.
13. Keep moving and get the best angles as possible without sacrificing yourself.
14. Find someone with an electro to cover you while to advance.
15. Know when to talk it up with your team and when to keep your mouth shut so the other team doesnt know where you are.
Recommended Upgrades:
-A 12grams quick changer if you're using 12grams
-Really good goggles, this is very important you need to be able to see the other team and be comfortable while you play. I like my JT proflexes with an amber lens, the amber lens makes it much easier to see.
-A harness for tubes and 12 grams, shot gun harnesses work surprisingly well.
-An upgraded barrel if you want, it will make some difference.
-Maybe a red dot sight, if you know how to use it, it can give you a much better 1st hit chance.
Other important things to remember:
UNDER BORE!!!!!!!!1!!!!11!!!!one!!!!!eleven!!!! That means use a small bore barrel somewhere in the range of .679 - .683. This will stop the balls from rolling out and give you better accuracy, consistency and efficiency. If you are using a phantom is it also a good thing to use the detent rings if you cannot under bore.
